You are going to want to try this! It is such an inexpensive way to keep your kids lunches cool. And…if they lose it, you can always make another one for less than $0.25. You can score a 4 pack of sponges just like this at the Dollar Store!
What you will need:
- Ziploc Bag
To Make them you simply just saturate a clean sponge with water and place into a Ziploc Bag. Lay flat in the freezer and leave at least overnight. In the morning they will be ready to use in your kids lunch box! As they melt, they will reabsorb the water so just toss them back in the freezer after school!!
We did a test on the sponges as well to show you how long they would last. I froze it overnight..took it out of the freezer today at 3:30 pm and left on the counter. (it will def last longer in the lunch box)
By 7:45 pm it was defrosted and NO excess water in the bag or outside. Even after I squeezed it, after a few minutes, the sponge soaked it all back up!
