When I tell you just how easy it is to make these soaps you are going to want to make them. Trust me! 🙂
Not only are they easy but they are FUN and the kids can help!
For all of my soap recipes I use a goat’s milk soap base because it makes soap making so easy. You can find it here on Amazon. For this recipe I didn’t add any coloring but you can purchase soap coloring here if you want to make them up as gifts or make it fun for the kids. The coloring can also be all natural as well depending on what scent you want the soap to be. (For example. You can use dried lemon zest from 3-4 lemons and make beautiful lemon colored soap bars, the same would go for coconut lime soap)
Anyway, the recipe I did above was Rosemary Mint and Lemon Eucalyptus but remember, use whatever scents you want.
For 3 of the soap bars I did – 10 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil Oil + 10 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
For the other 3 I did – 10 drops of Lemon Essential Oil + 10 Drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil
What you will Need:
Goats Milk Soap – you can find here
20-30 drops of Essential Oil
2-3 tbsp shea butter (optional) The goats milk soap base is soft but I love the creamy buttery soapy feeling so I always add this to my soap recipes and can be found here.
Silicone Mold – depending on the size and shape of the soaps you want to make.
This is the mold I used here.
1. Cut the soap into cubes and microwave in 30 second intervals (I use a large Pyrex measuring cup to melt the soap in). This recipe makes 6 bars of soap if you use the entire 2lbs of goats milk base. If you split it in half which is around 15 cubes , that will make 3 bars of soap.
2. Keep melting in intervals until the cubes are completely liquified, then add your essential oils and stir well.
3. Pour into soap molds and allow to harden for at least 2 hours. Press mold to release soap.
I use essential oils in the soaps I make.
Essential oils are from plants. They come from the roots, stems, flowers or seeds. Fragrance oils can be blends of essential oils or they can be artificially produced so be sure to know what you are using first. Most oils can be used at the rate of 15-20 drops batch of this size.
(I Use Young Living Oils )However, I have listed the ones I highly recommend below that you can purchase right from Amazon. The price is right and they are 100% pure and therapeutic. (remember, you are putting the soap on your skin so you don’t want just any oil)
Peppermint Essential Oil – this one makes a GREAT holiday gift as well. Mix this one with vanilla it smells amazing! 😉
Vanilla Pure Essential Oil
Rosemary Essential Oil
Rose Essential Oil (yes, Rose oil is very expensive)
Lavender Essential Oil
