I am pretty sure this is floating around somewhere on Pinterest. If not , then my 7 year old should be rich! 🙂
My husband turned 40 last week and my son happened to stay home from school the day of his birthday because he wasn’t feeling well. So we decide to do some crafts and make Daddy a birthday card. My son looks at me and says we should make him tickets like they do in school for when you are good and then you get to turn them in for little toys (haha) Then I got the idea to cut up pieces of paper and we would each write a reason why we loved him. When you’re 7 years old, what is a birthday without balloons right? Well my son tells me we need to get him some balloons for his party tonight. Party?! I didn’t know there was a party! So I explain to him when you get to be old like us, we don’t have birthday parties every year and invite our cousins over to run around and play like we do for you. BUT.we will go buy daddy some balloons for his birthday..FINE.
He convinces me to buy 2 dozen ..and that was just about as many as I was able to fit in my truck.
We get home and unload the balloons through the back door , in the pouring rain because my husband has the house protected like Fort Knox with security cameras all over the place. This is the only door I can get the damn balloons in without setting the alert off on his iPhone. Did I forget to mention its POURING rain too? So much FUN!
OK..Balloons in the house and I start making my husbands birthday dinner (Spinach pie) he’s soo weird…ask for Lobster or steak!
I walk into the living room and I see all the balloons spread out and my son is attaching his papers to the balloons!! SO SMART! And there you have it!! He says, Daddy can read all of them when he comes home. He had 5 little notes on 5 balloons. Well of course we had to finish and write notes for the other 14 balloons and left 5 free for when my other son came home from school. All done and they look awesome! He looks over at me and says ” But Mommy, I really wish we had 40 balloons because Daddy is 40 years old”
NO Colin…I am not going back to the party store in the pouring rain and getting more balloons.
No Colin, Daddy will be home soon and Dylan gets off the bus in 45 minutes and we need him to fill out his 5 pieces of paper.
And the final product….40 Balloons (Colin win’s )
Each with a note attached.
I had to share because I LOVE LOVE this idea! I will be doing this again for my mom’s birthday and I KNOW she will cry! 🙂
Do it for a birthday , Valentine’s Day, Anniversary…it’s such a cute idea and I had to share 🙂
PS..Yes, that is a Princess crown my husband is wearing on his head. Second trip back to the party store for round 2 of the balloons they had a princess crown with the Number 40 on it, My son insisted on getting it for Daddy. This kid…. 🙂
