Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and it’s a perfect time to get crafty with the kids. I have put together a list of 4 Simple Valentine’s Day Crafts that you can probably make with things already in your craft supplies. They are all quick, mainly child led, and cute!
Heart Pencil Topper- Super simple-all you need is a new pencil and a pipe cleaner. Begin by twisting one pipe cleaner around pencil tightly in a coil. I wrapped mine around 4 times. Next bend the pipe cleaner away from the pencil giving it a sharp crease for the bottom of the heart. Curve it around your finger to make the first bump of the heart, crease the center sharply again. Curve the next portion around your finger for the next bump and secure the end by wrapping it around the pencil again. You can make these in any color to be boy or girl friendly and the multi-packs of pipe cleaners and pencils can be picked up at Dollar Tree making it a frugal Valentine Craft.
Crayon Resist Drawing– Grab white construction paper, a white crayon, and watercolor paints. You can either write a message for you child to uncover or let them create their own picture start to finish. Draw or write on the construction paper with the white crayon, color over the crayon with watercolors to make it appear. If you have a little one doing this let them scribble and then paint, after it dries cut it into a heart shape for a homemade Valentine for Grandma or someone.
Stamped Valentine’s Card– Gather construction paper, paint, and an empty toilet paper roll. Fold construction paper into a card. Bend one side of your toilet paper roll into a sharp crease, place to fingers in the other side and crease the roll between your two fingers, forming the top of a heart. Give your child a dish with the paint spread out and let them stamp hearts all over the card. Offer 2 or 3 colors for contrast.
Valentine’s Love Bugs– Cute little creatures for you little ones to make, you will need pompoms, (large preferably) pipe cleaners, google eyes, construction paper, and glue. Cut pom poms in half or smaller to create antennae-twist or bend to shape. Cut small hearts from construction paper for you love bugs feet, glue pom pom to feet, glue google eyes on, and antennae. For wings glue a heart cut from construction paper to their “back” Make as many as you wish and you child can play with their love bug colony!
