Another great activity to keep children busy this summer. My boys LOVE to read so we created our own color reading list that they can fill in themselves each time they read a book on their own. We also have one of the tasks on our Summer Fun Bucket List which is to read at least 10 books 🙂 In addition, we found the information below on Scholastic’s Page and thought it would be helpful to anyone with school aged Children 🙂
The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is a free reading program dedicated to stopping the “Summer Slide” and encouraging kids to read every day this summer. Now in its 9th year, the Summer Reading Challenge invites kids to log the minutes they spend reading as they strive to set a new world record for summer reading. The Challenge runs through September 4th ,2015.
I have also created a Printable Reading List for each child and they fill it out every time they read a book. Of course now at 6 and 8 years old it’s more of a game of “Let’s see who can fill up the sheet first because whoever does wins” LOL
Feel free to print as many copies of the Reading List as you want HERE
